To open a telephone line

NTT, a Japanese telephone service provider, offers a "Kanyudenwa (analog) Lite Plan" by which a telephone line can be installed without a subscription fee. Users of this plan are required to pay a fee for the plan, in addition to a monthly line fee (basic rate).

To open a telephone line in your new residence, you are required to call NTT in advance to arrange the installation work.
It is recommended that you call 116 to make arrangements as soon as possible after deciding the moving date.

Mobile phones / PHS

In the Kansai region, mobile or Personal Handiphone System (PHS) services are provided by companies such as NTT DoCoMo, au and Softbank. Basic rates and dialing charges vary depending on the company and the service plans they offer. Apply for the service at sales shops of the respective companies.

Telephone directory

Telephone directories are provided to NTT telephone line subscribers free of charge.
"Town Page" is particularly useful when you need to find information such as hospitals or shops.
